Ireland is fortunate in having a diaspora of 70 million people around the world. As you all know through your work in the Irish community here, our relationship with this global community is something we should cherish and celebrate. Global Ireland: Ireland’s Global Footprint to 2025 – the Government’s plan to double our international presence – commits us to introducing a new diaspora policy in 2020. This new policy will guide Ireland’s engagement and relationship with our diaspora: our emigrants, our citizens abroad, those of Irish heritage and those who feel an affinity with Ireland around the world. For more information, including a video message from Minister Ciaran Cannon, please see here: https://www.dfa.ie/global-irish/consultations/
The Government of Ireland is therefore in the process of holding a series of consultations regarding a new Diaspora Engagement Policy.
As you know, Canada is a vast country and in order for us to reach the maximum number of the Irish diaspora possible, we have created an online survey to allow people to offer us feedback on their diaspora experience.
This survey can be found at this link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/6TGN8R5 and I would be grateful if you could forward this to your members or contacts, and let everyone know that this a chance to have their voices heard as we move towards creating this new policy.
I’d be very grateful for any assistance you could give me with distributing this survey.
